                                                              MUTE  MERCY


                                      Utter darkness torn by screams
                                       Shouts accompanied by running feet
                                       Running over one another
                                       Falling into their death valley.    
                                 
                                      Bhopal becoming a demon
                                      And moments later
                                      Signs of withered life all around
                                      Eyes looking into endless space
                                      Mouth open and broken face
                                      Bodies only a mass of cracked bones and flesh
                                      Life snatched out of tender fingers
                                     Leaving the living - deads.
                                       
                                     To my utter surprise I see .....
                                     A child sucking nipples of a bitch 
                                    The milk of mute - mercy flowing
                                    To  save a little baby.
                                    And I bow.

                                    The separation of loved ones.....
                                    The misery and grief to be  borne
                                    Broken dreams,hopes and homes
                                     
                                    Were they destined to be doomed together ?
                                    Or the negligence played its part
                                    Or was it just the human error?
                                   And humanity -  the sufferer.
