MUTE  MERCY



                                      Utter darkness torn by screams
                                       Shouts accompanied by running feet
                                       Running over one another
                                       Falling into their death valley   
                                 
                                      Bhopal becoming a demon
                                      And moments later
                                      Signs of withered life all around
                                      Eyes looking into endless space
                                      Mouth open and broken faces
                                      Bodies only a mass of cracked bones and flesh
                                      Life snatched out of tender fingers
                                     Leaving the living - deads
                                       
                                     To my utter surprise I see .....
                                     A child sucking nipples of a bitch 
                                    The milk of mute - mercy flowing
                                    To  save a little baby
                                    And I bow

                                    The separation of loved ones.....
                                    The misery and grief to be  borne
                                    Broken dreams, hopes and homes
                                     
                                    Were they destined to be doomed together 
                                    Or the negligence played its part
                                    Or was it just the heartless human error
                                   And the humanity -  the sufferer
